CBD Oil for Pets
CBD is forΒ Pets Too!
One of the most common questions we receive is "Can I give CBD to my cat or dog?" The answer is yes:Β yourΒ petΒ has an endocannabinoid system just like you and can experience the same therapeutic benefits. In fact, cannabis use for animals is nothing new - the ancient Greeks used to give cannabis to their horses for a range of ailments. We areΒ animal lovers here at Lily Hill and several of our team members give CBD to their furry friends.Β
Start Low and Go Slow
Typical dosage for dogs is .5 to 5mg of CBD per 10 pounds of your pet's body weight, twice per day.Β CBD should be used daily for best results. We have a CBD Oil for Pets which contains 500mg of CBD blended with wild Alaskan salmon oil (great for your pet's coat!). However, any of our unflavored CBD Oils are safe for your pet. When measuring, note that one full dropper of our CBD Oil for Pets contains approximately 17mg of CBD.
StartΒ with a low doseΒ and increase the dose every 4 to 7 days until the desired results are achieved. The amount needed will be different for everyΒ animal and some conditions will require more CBD than others. SinceΒ pets can't tell us how they feel, you'll need to be a keen observer ofΒ their behavior so you can gauge the effects of the CBD.Β
You can addΒ the oil to your pet's food at mealtime, drop some onto a treat, or just administer it straight intoΒ their mouth. Because our CBD oil is made with just salmonΒ oil and CBD extract, you don't need to worry that you're givingΒ them any unwanted fillers or additives.
You can also apply CBD oil topically to rashes and hot spots. However, please don't apply our CBD salve to yourΒ pet as it contains other ingredients that you may not wantΒ your kitty or pup to ingest if they lick it.
Remember, CBD is not a cure for any condition, nor is it a substitute for training if your pet is having behavior problems.
Talk to Your Vet
Always talk to your veterinarian before giving CBD to your petΒ to make sureΒ it's right forΒ them and that the CBD won't interact with any medicationsΒ they may be taking.Β
